Once I had the idea of creating a website to showcase species from the Romanian vascular flora (Tracheophyta), and so Spontana.org was born in 2009.

This is not a scientific project. There may be inaccuracies in species identification or nomenclature, and the website does not aim to cover the entire Romanian vascular flora - only species (and their families and orders) for which pictures are available are included.

The classification used is taken from widely accepted phylogenetic systems, like APG IV for the flowering plants (Angiospermae), and PPG I for lycophytes (Lycopodiopsida) and ferns (Polypodiopsida).

Picture contributions are welcome, especially for species not yet featured. Unless otherwise noted, I am the author of the pictures.
